I am a warm, open, and empathetic practitioner with the ability to build a rapport, gain trust and help my clients feel relaxed. I work from a Humanistic perspective meaning that I believe everyone deserves respect, everyone is an individual and that their experience is the most important criteria for change.

I was born in the United Kingdom but grew up in the USA and have a passion for encouraging others, more than likely as a result of my being the eldest of six children and a natural tendency to lend a hand. I have three adult children and one grandchild. My previous career choices reflect a preference to help as I have enjoyed various roles such as Community Nursing Auxiliary, NHS. Passenger Service Agent, British Airways, Check-out Manager, Safeway and latterly Customer Service Officer for Portsmouth City Council.

Yearning for a deeper fulfilment and improved work life balance, I chose to undertake a Certificate in Counselling Skills, progressing onto completing a Diploma in Humanistic Counselling followed by achieving a BA (HONs) Humanistic Counselling and Psychotherapy degree, all at the University of Chichester. I have since worked for NHS Solent Psychological Services, as a Counsellor and more recently as a volunteer Counsellor for All Saints Counselling Service whilst enjoying and building my private practice client base.

I live in sunny Southsea on the Hampshire coast and enjoy all aspects of living close to the sea as well as numerous creative activities which I sometimes include within my therapy sessions, believing creativity changes lives.
